Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Site Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of construction projects, ensuring work is completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. The successful candidate will lead site teams, coordinate subcontractors, and ensure compliance with all health, safety and environmental regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Site Management
- Manage daily site operations and activities.
- Coordinate labour, plant, materials and subcontractors.
- Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with programme requirements.
- Monitor site progress and address any issues affecting delivery.
- Maintain an organised, efficient and safe working environment.
Health, Safety and Environmental Compliance
- Promote a strong health and safety culture across all site activities.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, legislation and industry regulations.
- Conduct site inspections, risk assessments and toolbox talks.
- Investigate and report incidents, accidents and near misses.
- Ensure all personnel have the required training, inductions and permits.
Quality Control
- Ensure all works are completed to specification and quality standards.
- Carry out inspections and quality checks throughout the project lifecycle.
- Manage snagging activities and ensure timely resolution of defects.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation relating to quality assurance.
Programme and Cost Control
- Monitor project schedules and productivity levels.
- Identify potential delays and implement corrective actions.
- Support budget management by controlling site costs and minimising waste.
- Assist with procurement and resource planning requirements.
Stakeholder Management
- Liaise with clients, consultants, suppliers, local authorities and contractors.
- Attend project meetings and provide progress updates.
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with all stakeholders.
Team Leadership
- Lead, motivate and develop site teams.
- Allocate responsibilities and monitor performance.
- Ensure effective communication across all project personnel.
- Support the training and development of employees and apprentices.
Required Skills and Experience
Essential
- Proven experience as a Site Manager within the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, regulations and best practice.
- Excellent leadership and people management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management systems.
- Full UK driving licence.
Qualifications
- SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme).
- CSCS Card (Manager Level).
- First Aid at Work Certificate.
- Relevant construction qualification (HNC/HND, NVQ Level 6 or equivalent).
Desirable
- Temporary Works Coordinator qualification.
- NEBOSH or IOSH certification.
- Experience managing projects across multiple sectors.
